    As an administrator you’ll handle the day-to-day tasks in an office, making sure things run smoothly. Your exact duties will depend on where you carry out your Apprenticeship but it’s likely you’ll get involved in typing up meeting documents, sending the daily post, or putting financial information together, plus much more.

     

    One of the great things about this Apprenticeship is that you can transfer your skills to a variety of work environments. It’s also a great starting point to move into management once you have more experience.

    Whether it’s training to be a bricklayer, carpenter or painter, the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship allows you to work in your chosen field and learn the necessary skills and techniques directly from industry experts.

     

    On completion, you can progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship where you’ll be responsible for carrying out more complex tasks in your chosen area. Following this, the majority of our apprentices progress directly into employment where there’s often a demand for highly skilled trades people.

    Good customer service is key to the success of any business or organisation.

    As a Customer Service apprentice you’ll ensure customers are dealt with in a positive, reliable and pleasant way, whether it’s through offering advice, answering questions or dealing with complaints.

    On the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship you’ll work in a trainee or assistant position, progressing to a team leader or managerial role on the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.

     

    Completing the Customer Service Apprenticeship with Solihull College provides you with evidence of skills that will serve you well in almost any industry and so it’s a good way of moving forward even if you’re still undecided about your future career.

    This Apprenticeship is ideal if you want to work with children and support their learning and development, ensuring they are looked after, kept active, happy and nourished.

    On the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship you’ll work under supervision in roles such as a nursery assistant, playgroup assistant or assistant youth support worker.

    If you choose to progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship you’ll use your own initiative to plan and organise your own work in the role of a nursery nurse or playgroup leader, amongst others.

     

    Both programmes allow you to progress within this rewarding sector, whether it’s continuing your studies or going directly into employment.

    The electrical profession covers a wide skills area including domestic installation, shop fitting, factory maintenance, commercial and industrial installations, testing and inspecting, lift installations, and many more.

    Your time at Solihull College & University Centre will be spent in the workshop, learning and applying the basic skills of electrical installation under the watchful eye of industry experts, as well as studying the electrical principles and installation theory.

     

    After you’ve completed the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship you can progress onto the Level 3 programme to further your studies or alternatively move straight into employment to hone your skills in the workplace full-time.

    Study towards a certificate in Event Planning and you could be on your way to organising sporting events, corporate events, music events and more. The College is the first educational institution within the Midlands to offer this route into a career within event management and event planning.

    We have great links with a number of local businesses such as Warwick Castle, the NEC and Hogarths Hotel where you can gain valuable work experience to add to your portfolio.

    You will be able to put your skills and knowledge into practice by organising 3 different types of events whilst on the course, gaining valuable experience to begin your career journey in the events industry.

    Style your way to success and become a Hairdressing or Barbering apprentice.

    Working in a professional salon on the Level 2 Intermediate Hairdressing Apprenticeship, you’ll train as a Junior Stylist carrying out a range of duties such as shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair.

     

    Once trained, you can move onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship where you’ll develop your cutting and colouring skills and becomea professional hairdresser.

     

    If you’re interested in styling men’s hair, then choose the Barbering Apprenticeship where you’ll learn how to give client consultations, cut hair, trim and shape facial hair. And if you’ve got a creative flair, you could learn how to cut basic patterns in hair.

     

    Most of our apprentices continue working in industry after completing the Hairdressing and Barbering Apprenticeships, with some even opening up their own salons.

    Alternatively you could work in a nursery and discover how to deal with large-scale production of plants for food and display purposes, including fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers for sale.

     

    The Advanced Apprenticeship allows you to move into a specialist or senior level role, whether it’s as a deputy head green keeper, garden designer or horticultural technician.
